Our Family members should always be the highest priority in our lives, and even in the Family setting there is a structure of priority. (If we are not at are best we can not help others without hurting our family) Holidays roll around we start thinking more about helping others, this is always with great intentions but where does the money go? Is the tax write off worth not knowing if the money was helping or harming? The best advice I can give is donate items local to charities, churches, food banks, with little or no resale value. T. P. Shampoos, soap, lady products, hair brushes, coloring books, crayons, beef jerky is great for the homeless as well as fruit cups, tuna packs, snack pack crackers. I fix little bags of luchies (I call them) the night before my husband has to go downtown to the VA HOSPITAL and hand them out to the homeless. If I have the money I put some in there, this gives them the option to buy a drink or a phone call, cigarette or whatever after your charitable it don't concern you. That's my point. Charity cames from the heart so try to make sure that it ends with the least harm, you're charitable to as possible.
