A lot of prophecy buffs believe that Russia is Magog. But remember when Netanyahu flew to Moscow in 2019 to to request clearance from Putin to conduct an airstrike against Iranian missile sites inside Syria - and got it? Now ask yourself: why would a state-controlled Russian RT news network reveal Iranian involvement in US base attack in Iraq? And at the same time Moscow warning the US it will retaliate if the US attacks Iran? Can it be that these alliances of Moscow with Tehran - and possibly with Ankara - are only all for show?

Putin has an interesting back story. He was a latchkey child. His parents worked full time in the KGB. So he spent his afternoons, and sometimes nights, with a Jewish family down the hall from his parent's apartment. As a result, he is free of that broad streak of anti-semitism that runs through Russia.
Under Putin, Israel and Russia have a tacit alliance in Syria. Syria is a Russian ally. Israel doesn't attack Russian assets. When Israel attacks Syrian assets that Iran has appropriated, then it warns Russia that it's coming so they can evacuate their personnel. When Israel attacks purely Iranian assets in Syria then they warn the Russians where they will be coming to protect any Russian assets in the area. Russia does not pass this warning on to Iranian forces.
It's a strange War going on in Syria.

I think Russia is just terrified of what goes on in the minds of Western hawks, hence the posturing. Another thing: if the US is the biggest hurdle to a one world government, Russia (not China) with its huge Thermo-Nuclear arsenal comes in at a close second. Just as Rev 17:10-11 tells us, the mess will surely be coming from the revived 7th empire.
From a geographical standpoint, that area now occupied by Turkey can represent 3 empires: the 5th empire Greece (Anatolia, which is in modern-day Turkey), the 6th Rome (Byzantium being the Eastern leg of the Roman empire) and the 7th empire of the Ottoman Turks (and we must remember that this end-time system and entity "thinks to change times and laws" - something absent among Russians).
By contrast you have Egypt, Tyre and nations in North Africa (Libya used to encompass many of the now-independent Muslim nations of North Africa) that were part of the Western Roman empire which can easily be the 5 "toes" of the Western leg of the statue in Nebuchadnezzar's dream.
Lastly, it is sad that many well-known prophecy teachers shoehorn "Rosh" into Ezekiel 38:2 and 39:1 by saying that Gog is "the chief prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal" when "Rosh" does not even appear in these passages.
In this end time scenario in Zechariah 9:13 where Greece is mentioned:
"When I have bent Judah for me, filled the bow with Ephraim, and raised up thy sons, O Zion, against thy sons, O Greece, and made thee as the sword of a mighty man".
The word "Greece" there was translated from the Hebrew יון "Yavan", who was the son of Joktan who lived in Ionia. Not Athens, but Ionia.
