Why do so many believe that black men live in fear of being shot by racist police?

The following infographic shows who killed Blacks in 2019 using FBI homicide and Washington Post police shooting data. While it clearly shows that a tiny fraction (about 0.5%) of Blacks killed were killed by police while being unarmed, the narrative promoted heavily in media, by BLM, and by sport celebrities from Colin Kaepernick to LeBron James is that black men live in daily fear that they will be shot by police for no reason. The truth is that an unarmed black person had a 1 in 3.1 million chance of being killed by police in 2019.

If anyone was living in constant fear of something that has a yearly probability of happening on par with the chance of dying on a single commercial flight, they would seek professional psychological help. In these situations, a psychologist would often use a process called Cognitive Behavior Therapy to help the person break free from their delusion by changing the way they think or respond to stimulus - in this case, seeing heavily promoted videos of black men being shot by police. A psychologist would highlight the facts that in almost every case, the person shot was armed and/or resisting arrest, that over 90% of Blacks are killed by other Blacks, and the media doesn't promote videos of the overwhelming majority of cases where police are not involved or the person shot was violent or not following police orders. They would also help the person realize that promoted videos are chosen to collaborate other narratives that society at large is unfair and that they have no personal control of a situation... when in fact, they can greatly reduce their chances of not being killed by police by not being armed, not doing something that would result in police being called, and by following orders of the police.

When someone is in a state of delusion of persecution, either to themselves or for someone else, they are easily triggered and manipulated by each confirming stimulus. The longer that these stimuli go on unchecked, the harder it is for them to let go of a delusion as their emotional state creates a "personal reality" that feels more real than the base or external reality. The person often called this "lived experiences" and claims, justifiably, that it is impossible for others to experience it. When confronted with counter evidence, the delusional person's mental defense mechanisms kick in and they often become angry and characterizes the evidence as lies and those who claim it as truth as liars. Unfortunately, with the collapse of traditional journalism and the growth of click-bait headlines, it has become so much easier for people to discount counter-evidence as "fake news".

The result of this process is that a growing number of people live in a pseudo "reality bubble" that becomes more impenetrable as more people become trapped inside it. This is because as more people join the "reality bubble", it becomes a self-reinforcing system as each member validates other members' sense of reality. Members then are incentivised to enforce narrative purity as any heretic who succumbs to counter-evidence is a threat to the group. Armed with a sense of being "right", members go on offensive and force "non-believers" to either convert to their way of thinking, often by a baptismal show of public, confirmation-bias producing support for groups like Black Lives Matter, or be declared apostates - in this case, "racists". Faced by the threat of being "canceled" if declared a racist, individuals, corporations, and social media platforms then are pressured to assist in enforcing the narrative that like "black men should live in fear of being shot by racist police for no reason"... which is just one plank of "Black Lives Matter" movement which, in turn, is just one plank of the "Social Justice" or progressive movement.

Just as it's unkind to convince a young child that a scary boogyman lives under their bed, it's unkind to unjustifiably convince people that they live in constant threat of danger. If you know someone who may benefit from seeing this article and infographic, please consider sending it to them. While it may not be enough to collapse their entire "reality bubble", giving them an opportunity to compare what the media tells them about the police with what the statistics show may be a start.

Because we have a disgustingly corrupt media that is intentionally lying to create division.

Will make a question-of-the-day about this soon...

Great piece that sums up the false narrative being fed the public by leftist activists pretending to be journalists, and it’s not just in the US, it’s all over the Western world.

In Canada a major fake narrative accuses white men of hunting and killing indigenous women, and claims “racist” police don’t care. This “genocide” has been investigated multiple times for many years without producing a shred of evidence. Progressives, including Canada’s woke Prime Minister refuse to acknowledge the facts:

-The murder of indigenous women has been declining for 25 years (down by one third)
-Police solve 82% of these cases (83% for non-indigenous women)
-70% of these murders are committed by indigenous men, not white men
-60% of the victims were engaged in high risk activities (hitchhiking, prostitution, drug & alcohol abuse)
-Indigenous males are actually murdered at a higher rate than indigenous women, but the left isn’t concerned with men

The facts make no difference. The federal government, news media, and woke activists continue to drive the false narrative. All opposition is considered racist.

Interesting to see that the narrative of oppression is a meta narrative and is being used repeated in different genres. Is there a fundamental need for people to believe in monsters to fight... and if none exists, they build it up from fragments until it's scary enough?

@Admin I think you’re right about the need to believe in monsters. One of humanity’s most fundamental narratives — one that people respond to on a visceral level — is the struggle between good and evil.

I think post-modernists are using these narratives to leverage outrage for their own political ends. People buy into the story, but I don’t for a minute that those driving the outrage believe in any of it.

@Admin
"Is there a fundamental need for people to believe in monsters to fight"

Interesting direction you are taking this thread.

I think there is a basic or fundamental, intrinsic fear of things that are obviously different from a particular person and a particular tribe. But I don't think that has anything at all to do with the topic of your post.

Black males are simultaneously fearless and contemptuous of authority - their mothers/grandmothers raised them that way - it is on purpose and notable that I did not say their "fathers" raised them that way. Father figures are notably absent in the lives of the vast majority of young Black children and this is no minor problem. It is quite damaging to the development of the children.

The Black males (and females to a slighly lesser degreee) are physically aggressive and capable and apt liars, fighters, thieves...and this conduct is excused all along the span of the persons development.

They have that built in excuse - being Black relieves them of guilt, conscience, shame. ..."its the fault of Whites" that I am the way I am"...

It is morally, intellectually laziness to sluff off any slight notion of personal responsibility and to shift that to "da man".

Almost every time we witness yet another Black person shot dead in the streets we have to endure a months long hue and cry about "what a good boy he was" ...

Black American Culture today - decades past the age of "Jim Crow" is violent, racist, criminal...and completely in denial about who is responsible for their life style.

Nobody - no White persons - have the balls to tell them that the life style they know is the life style they choose - they love it - they embrace it and are loathe to change it.

Lord knows we (White People) can't make them change - it's their problem to fix.

6

I think that fear comes not from Black men but from the mothers and grandmothers and sisters of Black men. The women KNOW they raised a son who is habitually on the wrong side of the law and they also know that their sons/grandsons bad behavior is going to inevitably lead to encounters w/police which exponentially increases the odds that their thuggish son will be shot by the police.

They raise their men to be non-compliant, to disrespect authority, to opportunistic thievery, fighting, to be inappropriately violent much of the time...all of this adds up to living on the edge - the wives, mothers, grandmothers know in their hearts this lack of character in their men...but they will never agree that their men should be held personally responsible for their own bad conduct.
There always will be the built in excuse for bad conduct: "Da Man" - White Racism - poverty...

No amount of statistical evidence will EVER trump the proverbial race card. What makes it worse IMHO is the White People who acquiesced to the "race card" excuse.
No amount of objective truth can ever sway the minds, the attitudes of a people who desperately NEED to believe that the violent death of their son, grandson, brother was his own fault and the fault of the Black American Culture that imbued him with utter contempt for society in general and for White people and cops in particular.

Would this be in contrast to "The Talk" which black parents tell their kids that the world is racist and they're in danger? [en.wikipedia.org]

@Admin no not contrasting - "the talk" is precisely the problem. Parents (mothers) have the fear and as I said their fear comes from the unspoken knowledge of just what kind of sons they raised.

@iThink Absolutely! These kids are being raised on a false message. They are falsely told from day one that everyone is out to get them. They are raised to view themselves as victims of the system, the rich, or white people. Of course this would result in anger, crime and a feeling of being entitled to compensation.

5

Historically every year over 90% of black youths who have been murdered have been killed by other black youths....but if it doesn’t fit the narrative, facts do not matter.

But how long can a narrative built on lies last?

@Admin
At least 1400 years!

@Admin until the truth becomes apparent

5

5% of the population. Black men - create at least 50% of the crime. It's called RAP MUSIC GANGSTER culture and you don't seem to want to hear about it? Just keep ignoring it.

something like this?

@Admin
Yeah ... that’s particularly endearing.
He actually got “famous” behind that bullshit.
In Brooklyn, Queens and several other places, kids grow up aspiring to do this “shit”.
What’s really sick are the Whiggas ...
Seriously pathetic white kid wannabes.

MSM (Mainstream Media) told them that its true. And its too convenient for the mental and emotional basket cases to accept that false story, than to actually have to take responsibility of their own lives and control their fake outrage.

I think it's tempting to assume that those who believe the MSM are simply too dumb to see it as propaganda... but we all know otherwise intelligent people who have been convinced that what they see from MSM is base reality. There must be something deeper going on than simple trickery. Then again, it took me longer than I care to admit to get the right answer to the Monty Hall problem : [en.wikipedia.org]

@Admin I oversimplified the long list of reasons, but I guess I can recommend you read something like Eric Hoffer, The True Believer: Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements from which I quote: “It is startling to realize how much unbelief is necessary to make belief possible. The quality of ideas seems to play a minor role in mass movement leadership. What counts is the arrogant gesture, the complete disregard of the opinion of others, the singlehanded defiance of the world. Hatred is the most accessible and comprehensive of all the unifying agents. Mass movements can rise and spread without belief in a god, but never without a belief in a devil.” ― Eric Hoffer, The True Believer: Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements

The book explains the assumption the ideas and reasons must be intellectually mature.

The True Believer: Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements by Eric Hoffer

A stevedore on the San Francisco docks in the 1940s, Eric Hoffer wrote philosophical treatises in his spare time while living in the railroad yards. The True Believer - the first and most famous of his books - was made into a bestseller when President Eisenhower cited it during one of the earliest television press conferences.Completely relevant and essential for understanding the world today, The True Believer is a visionary, highly provocative look into the mind of the fanatic and a penetrating study of how an individual becomes one.

The True Believer: Thoughts On The Nature Of Mass Movements is a 1951 social psychology book by American writer Eric Hoffer, in which the author discusses the psychological causes of fanaticism.

Hoffer analyzes and attempts to explain the motives of the various types of personalities that give rise to mass movements; why and how mass movements start, progress and end; and the similarities between them, whether religious, political, radical or reactionary. He argues that even when their stated goals or values differ, mass movements are interchangeable, that adherents will often flip from one movement to another, and that the motivations for mass movements are interchangeable. Thus, religious, nationalist and social movements, whether radical or reactionary, tend to attract the same type of followers, behave in the same way and use the same tactics and rhetorical tools. As examples, he often refers to Communism, Fascism, National Socialism, Christianity, Protestantism, and Islam.

The first and best-known of Hoffer's books, The True Believer has been published in 23 editions between 1951 and 2002.

U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower read The True Believer in 1952, gave copies to friends, and recommended it to others. In 1956, Look magazine ran an article calling Hoffer "Ike's Favorite Author".

Allen Scarbrough chose The True Believer as one of 25 books that "you need to read to know just about everything".

The True Believer earned renewed attention after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and also after the Tea Party Protests and Occupy Wall Street protests a decade later

@Admin For the curious readers I'll post a longer part from the book here , but its only for those interested.

Nature of the Desire for Change:

There is in us a tendency to locate the shaping forces of our existence outside ourselves. Success and failure are unavoidably related in our minds with the state of things around us. Hence it is that people with a sense of fulfillment think it a good world and would like to conserve it as it is, while the frustrated favor radical change. The tendency to look for all causes outside ourselves persists even when it is clear that our state of being is the product of personal qualities such as ability, character, appearance, health and so on. “If anything ail a man,” says Thoreau, “so that he does not perform his functions, if he have a pain in his bowels even … he forthwith sets about reforming—the world.”

It is understandable that those who fail should incline to blame the world for their failure. The remarkable thing is that the successful, too, however much they pride themselves on their foresight, fortitude, thrift and other “sterling qualities,” are at bottom convinced that their success is the result of a fortuitous combination of circumstances. The self-confidence of even the consistently successful is never absolute. They are never sure that they know all the ingredients which go into the making of their success. The outside world seems to them a precariously balanced mechanism, and so long as it ticks in their favor they are afraid to tinker with it. Thus the resistance to change and the ardent desire for it spring from the same conviction, and the one can be as vehement as the other.

A man is likely to mind his own business when it is worth minding. When it is not, he takes his mind off his own meaningless affairs by minding other people's business. This minding of other people's business expresses itself in gossip, snooping and meddling, and also in feverish interest in communal, national, and racial affairs. In running away from ourselves we either fall on our neighbor's shoulder or fly at his throat.

The burning conviction that we have a holy duty toward others is often a way of attaching our drowning selves to a passing raft. What looks like giving a hand is often a holding on for dear life. Take away our holy duties and you leave our lives puny and meaningless. There is no doubt that in exchanging a self-centered for a selfless life we gain enormously in self-esteem. The vanity of the selfless, even those who practice utmost humility, is boundless.

Glory is largely a theatrical concept. There is no striving for glory without a vivid awareness of an audience... The desire to escape or camouflage their unsatisfactory selves develops in the frustrated a facility for pretending -- for making a show -- and also a readiness to identify themselves wholly with an imposing spectacle

Self-contempt, however vague, sharpens our eyes for the imperfections of others. We usually strive to reveal in others the blemishes we hide in ourselves. Every extreme attitude is a flight from the self. The act of self-denial seems to confer on us the right to be harsh and merciless toward others. Scratch an intellectual, and you find a would-be aristocrat who loathes the sight, the sound and the smell of common folk. The act of self-denial seems to confer on us the right to be harsh and merciless toward others.

The opposite of the religious fanatic is not the fanatical atheist but the gentle cynic who cares not whether there is a God or not. The anti-theist is a religious person. He believes in atheism as though it were a new religion. There is a tendency to judge a race, a nation or any distinct group by its least worthy members. Though manifestly unfair, this tendency has some justification. For the character and destiny of a group are often determined by its inferior elements.

The game of history is usually played by the best and the worst over the heads of the majority in the middle. The reason that the inferior elements of a nation can exert a marked influence on its course is that they are wholly without reverence toward the present. They see their lives and the present as spoiled beyond remedy and they are ready to waste and wreck both: hence their recklessness and their will to chaos and anarchy.
For men to plunge headlong into an undertaking of vast change, they must be intensely discontented yet not destitute, and they must have the feeling that by the possession of some potent doctrine, infallible leader or some new technique they have access to a source of irresistible power. They must also have an extravagant conception of the prospects and the potentialities of the future. Finally, they must be wholly ignorant of the difficulties involved in their vast undertaking. Experience is a handicap.

Those who would transform a nation or the world cannot do so by breeding and captaining discontent or by demonstrating the reasonableness and desirability of the intended changes or by coercing people into a new way of life. They must know how to kindle and fan an extravagant hope.

Crude absurdities, trivial nonsense and sublime truths are equally potent in readying people for self-sacrifice if they are accepted as the sole, eternal truth. It is obvious, therefore, that in order to be effective a doctrine must not be understood, but has rather to be believed in. We can be absolutely certain only about things we do not understand. […] The devout are always urged to seek the absolute truth with their hearts and not their minds. […] If a doctrine is not unintelligible, it has to be vague; and if neither unintelligible nor vague, it has to be unverifiable. One has to get to heaven or the distant future to determine the truth of an effective doctrine. When some part of a doctrine is relatively simple, there is a tendency among the faithful to complicate and obscure it. If a doctrine is not unintelligible, it has to be vague; and if neither unintelligible nor vague, it has to be unverifiable.

On the other hand, there is no more potent dwarfing of the present than by viewing it as a mere link between a glorious past and a glorious future. Thus, though a mass movement at first turns its back on the past, it eventually develops a vivid awareness, often specious, of a distant glorious past. Religious movements go back to the day of creation; social revolutions tell of a golden age when men were free, equal, and independent; nationalist movements revive or invent memories of past greatness.

Unless a man has the talents to make something of himself, freedom is an irksome burden. Of what avail is freedom to choose if the self be ineffectual? We join a mass movement to escape individual responsibility, or, in the words of the ardent young Nazi, ‘to be free from freedom.’ It was not sheer hypocrisy when the rank-and-file Nazis declared themselves not guilty of all the enormities they had committed. They considered themselves cheated and maligned when made to shoulder responsibility for obeying orders. Had they not joined the Nazi movement in order to be free from responsibility?

A mass movement attracts and holds a following not because it can satisfy the desire for self-advancement, but because it can satisfy the passion for self-renunciation. The vigor of a mass movement stems from the propensity of its followers for united action and self-sacrifice. When we ascribe the success of a movement to its faith, doctrine, propaganda, leadership, ruthlessness and so on, we are but referring to instruments of unification and to means used to inculcate a readiness for self-sacrifice.

One of the rules that emerges from a consideration of the factors that promote self-sacrifice is that we are less ready to die for what we have or are than for what we wish to have and to be. It is a perplexing and unpleasant truth that when men already have “something worth fighting for,” they do not feel like fighting. People who live full, worthwhile lives are not usually ready to die for their own interests nor for their country nor for a holy cause.

Misery does not automatically generate discontent, nor is the intensity of discontent directly proportionate to the degree of misery. [...] A grievance is most poignant when almost redressed. […] Our frustration is greater when we have much and want more than when we have nothing and want some. We are less dissatisfied when we lack many things than when we seem to lack but one thing.

The facts on which the true believer bases his conclusions must not be derived from his experience or observation but from holy writ. All mass movements generate in their adherents a readiness to die and a proclivity for united action; all of them, irrespective of the doctrine they preach and the program they project, breed fanaticism, enthusiasm, fervent hope, hatred and intolerance; all of them are capable of releasing a powerful flow of activity in certain departments of life; all of them demand blind faith and singlehearted allegiance. All movements, however different in doctrine and aspiration, draw their early adherents from the same types of humanity; they all appeal to the same types of mind. Though there are obvious differences between the fanatical Christian, the fanatical Mohammedan, the fanatical nationalist, the fanatical Communist and the fanatical Nazi, it is yet true that the fanaticism which animates them may be viewed and treated as one.

The same is true of the force which drives them on to expansion and world dominion. There is a certain uniformity in all types of dedication, of faith, of pursuit of power, of unity and of self-sacrifice. There are vast differences in the contents of holy causes and doctrines, but a certain uniformity in the factors which make them effective. He who, like Pascal, finds precise reasons for the effectiveness of Christian doctrine has also found the reasons for the effectiveness of Communist, Nazi and nationalist doctrine. However different the holy causes people die for, they perhaps die basically for the same thing.

Nowhere at present is there such a measureless loathing of their country by educated people as in America.

Those who see their lives as spoiled and wasted crave equality and fraternity more than they do freedom. If they clamor for freedom, it is but freedom to establish equality and uniformity. The passion for equality is partly a passion for anonymity: to be one thread of the many which make up a tunic; one thread not distinguishable from the others. No one can then point us out, measure us against others and expose our inferiority.
The men who rush into undertakings of vast change usually feel they are in possession of some irresistible power. The generation that made the French Revolution had an extravagant conception of the omnipotence of man’s reason and the boundless range of his intelligence. Never, says de Tocqueville, had humanity been prouder of itself nor had it ever so much faith in its own omnipotence.

It is futile to judge the viability of a new movement by the truth of its doctrine and the feasibility of its promises. What has to be judged is its corporate organization for quick and total absorption of the frustrated. Where new creeds vie with each other for the allegiance of the populace, the one which comes with the most perfected collective framework wins.

There is in us a tendency to locate the shaping forces of our existence outside ourselves. Success and failure are unavoidably related in our minds with the state of things around us. Hence it is that people with a sense of fulfillment think it a good world and would like to conserve it as it is, while the frustrated favor radical change.

...though ours is a godless age, it is the very opposite of irreligious.

A pleasant existence blinds us to the possibilities of drastic change. We cling to what we call our common sense, our practical point of view. Actually, these are but names for an all-absorbing familiarity with things as they are. The tangibility of a pleasant and secure existence is such that it makes other realities, however imminent, seem vague and visionary. Thus it happens that when the times become unhinged, it is the practical people who are caught unaware and are made to look like visionaries who cling to things that do not exist.

They who clamor loudest for freedom are often the ones least likely to be happy in a free society. The frustrated, oppressed by their shortcomings, blame their failure on existing restraints. Actually their innermost desire is for an end to the “free for all.” They want to eliminate free competition and the ruthless testing to which the individual is continually subjected in a free society.

All mass movements deprecate the present by depicting it as a mean preliminary to a glorious future; a mere doormat on the threshold of the millennium. That the deprecating attitude of a mass movement toward the present seconds the inclinations of the frustrated is obvious. What surprises one, when listening to the frustrated as they decry the present and all its works, is the enormous joy they derive from doing so. Such delight cannot come from the mere venting of a grievance. There must be something more -- and there is. By expatiating upon the incurable baseness and vileness of the times, the frustrated soften their feeling of failure and isolation. It is as if they said: 'Not only our blemished selves, but the lives of all our contemporaries, even the most happy and successful, are worthless and wasted.' Thus by deprecating the present they acquire a vague sense of equality.

An active mass movement rejects the present and centers its interest on the future. It is from this attitude that it derives its strength, for it can proceed recklessly with the present—with the health, wealth and lives of its followers. It is a truism that many who join a rising revolutionary movement are attracted by the prospect of sudden and spectacular change in their conditions of life.

Freedom aggravates at least as much as it alleviates frustration. Freedom of choice places the whole blame of failure on the shoulders of the individual. And as freedom encourages a multiplicity of attempts, it unavoidably multiplies failure and frustration. Freedom alleviates frustration by making available the palliatives of action, movement, change and protest.

A mass movement attracts and holds a following not because it can satisfy the desire for self-advancement, but because it can satisfy the passion for self-renunciation. When a mass movement begins to attract people who are interested in their individual careers, it is a sign that it has passed its vigorous stage; that it is no longer engaged in molding a new world but in possessing and preserving the present. It ceases then to be a movement and becomes an enterprise. According to Hitler, the more “posts and offices a movement has to hand out, the more inferior stuff it will attract, and in the end these political hangers-on overwhelm a successful party in such number that the honest fighter of former days no longer recognizes the old movement…. When this happens, the ‘mission’ of such a movement is done for.

― Eric Hoffer, The True Believer: Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements

@Admin
Thanks, that was a very interesting problem.
It is even more interesting when you try to a analyse how human brain work.
I too got it wrong first time and I think if you don’t have some experience in formal probability, you will always get it wrong first time.
In this case, what is really interesting, the more you THINK you know, the harder it is to see the correct solution.
You are blinding yourself by your own insistence that you are clever and is right.
Very important experiment to understand that you never understand enough to be always right.

@Hanno Yeah... it was a wake up for me to not think myself so smart 🙂

@Hanno, @Krunoslav Wow thanks, I just ordered the book. One of my favorites is Shame by Shelby Steele... one of my most underlined books. Progressives are anti-white due to shame of US's past which makes them want to disassociate. [amazon.com]

@Admin You are welcome. Good book to read.

Shame by Shelby Steele. I have not read that one, but does he mention the anti-colonialist authors, because that is where lot of Anti Western culture ideas come from. Not all, but many. Anti British Indian authors during colonialism, and African ones. Most of them interestingly are highly educated in Western universities and than for personal resentment or because they could not reconcile cultural origins with Western education, wrote lot of anti colonial, mainly Anti British and by extension Anti - American, as well as Anti Western materials.... and by being some of them professors and academics in Western universities, they started teaching their view to students and it first perfectly as justification for those that see the world with Marxist lens.

Fantastic Infographic. See also ...

This graphic doesn't make much sense to me. My impression is that everything listed on it represents a law that has been broken. I don't know anywhere that there is a law against being "Killed by Police."

Thanks! I created the graphic first for myself as similar charts were filled with numbers and I wanted a way to simplify it so numerically challenged types could get it more easily. I tried using ratio of violent crime as a way to explain why Blacks are killed at a higher rate than Whites, with mix results: [agnostic.com]

If you go by standards, procedures, and adherence to the Constitution and Constitutional rights our public servants promise to uphold rather than the good or bad cop you know then the conversation changes.

It's not systemic racism but systemic butchering of our remaining rights and freedoms. The same cops that the Blue Lives Matter types are all in for are arresting people for defending themselves against BLM rioters. Why? Because the DA told them to and they follow orders. The Blue Lives Matter people would tell you that's okay because "sort it out at the voting booth" or sort it out at the police station" as if your rights should ever be up for a vote. Those same cops will arrest you if you try to go to church in some places but not if you protest them in the streets? Why again? Because they follow orders.

That's kind of the problem. If you have to follow orders without conscience--which is what they've been doing, there will be deadly and immoral consequence. If you put your own life ahead of suspects who are children then you're no longer protecting us but yourself. Isn't that what conservatives say is so wrong about abortion? Children--even those who would grow up to be Hitler should be protected in the womb because God/Jesus said that "Better to have a millstone tired around your neck and flung into the deepest sea than to hurt one of these [child]." Poverty, rape, and to some even the mother's health is not as important because we've established (once) that children were to be protected at all costs....unless they reach for their belt around a cop because they might have a gun in their Garanimals.

Cops lives are more important than ours.

This isn't racism. This is classism and ironikcally Marxist thinking. The civil servant class is of higher status than others who are not in every socialist state in existence, be it Nazi, Socialist, or PCV.

It a generational wound that gets passed down in our community. From reconstruction to the civil rights era a lot of police officers were klansmen or were sympathetic to the klan especially in the south. They actively attacked black people or looked away while the klan did what they did. Like the freedom riders killed in Freedom Mississippi. That mistrust of the police has been passed down to keep us safe and is reinforced with police misconduct from the drug war and militarization of the police. The Rodney King beating was a turning point where police started to rein in their rogue members and not turn a blind eye to misconduct but it still happens. Black lies Scammers use that sore spot in our psyche to gain power.

It is understandable that mistrust towards police is passed down generational but it seems like the outrage today is more intense than anytime before... just at a point where police misconduct is at a low. This film did a pretty good job at showing the historical issues:

@Admin It's not more intense it just seems that way because of social media activist screeching at the top of their lungs and mainstream media thinking twitter is real life and reporting it as fact. Even with the rioters. Look at the mug shots. It's all white people.

3

Gosh. Could it have anything to do with resisting arrest and pulling a weapon on the cops?

Because I’d be willing to bet that when such reflexes are absent, fear of getting shot likewise diminishes to insignificant proportions?

It could possibly be a conflation of fears of living in high crime neighborhoods where one sees many police and associate it with black on black violence... that is, thinking that the police are causing the violence? But yeah, there is something else going on than just "police are pigs"... or should I say "piggies" [mobile.twitter.com]

I find it hard to believe a multi-millionaire like LeBron James constantly lives in fear of white police officers, and ditto for his fellow "athlete activists". Sharing details like the above with others is fine, but how exactly do we convince them such is accurate? Dealing rationally with those who may be suffering from paranoid delusions is easier said than done. The whole SJW movement with its many factions plays to people's emotions, and when that happens it becomes difficult if not totally impossible to reason with such individuals.

I agree with you that helping people with paranoid delusions is difficult. One thing that helps is to find evidence of ground truth that is verified by something that they trust. In the case of the infographic, the data was compiled using the database that the Washington Post maintains. Unfortunately, when presented with counter-evidence, the afflicted often will deflect to a new topic or find another objection.

@TheMiddleWay If I use the language of emotion in the hopes of convincing someone they could be wrong about something, I fear that will only lead to a communication breakdown for sure.

@TheMiddleWay I get what you're saying, such is social media, it seems...

As for changing minds online, I have reached out to a few individuals that eventually changed their minds on certain issues, and I changed some of my views after having discussions on controversial topics. It is possible to reach some.

@TheMiddleWay The alternative is working out to an extent. Emotional appeal hardly ever worked for me either.

@TheMiddleWay I can sympathize with you on that much.

@TheMiddleWay I'm starting to sadly agree with you but I will keep trying (perhaps until bullets start flying). I showed the graphic to a few friends of mine and both said they would be afraid to post it as their friends would call them racist/etc. I do hear what you said about AND vs OR... it's just that BLM would have more credibility if they were holistic. You are also right that tribes are pretty fixed today. Could you give an example of data that you think people on this site would disregard? I'm happy to make a post about it to see if your assessment is right.

@Admin some examples I’ve commented on in recent days of evidence denial on the right.

  • Holocaust denial
  • Belief that 9/11 was an “inside” job
  • Belief in a connection between homosexuality and pedophilia

@Admin, @TheMiddleWay granted, some data can be misinterpreted. However, we simply can’t stop using facts because people choose to reject them.

Post-modernists have trained the public to be skeptical for the past half century. As a result, there are controversies over everything from vaccines and GMO’s to moon landing.

Post-modernism rejects reason, rationality and the concept of truth. That doesn’t mean we have to abandon them.

@Admin
Perhaps, the only way the growing tide of tribalism can possibly end, or at least be mitigated, is by the emotional persuasiveness of fear and anger. Historically, disparate, geographically proximate, cultural groups have united in the face of a common threat. The USA could be saved from Boogaloo number 2 by a nuclear suitcase bomb delivered to NYC via the "Peaceful Religion", a Chinese sneak attack on Pearl Harbour (they would never expect a second one!), or possibly Martian invaders will land their porcelain disks in Washington.

If no outside forces present themselves with alacrity, I fear that I must agree with the pessimistic view of @TheMiddleWay. Changing enough minds soon enough to matter is increasingly improbable.

@GeeMac
Those who say 911 was an inside job cannot be taken seriously and I hardly believe they are of the "right"
Those who deny the holocaust also cannot be taken seriously - they are blinded by pure hate for Jews - I don't accept them as being of the right either.
Both of these groups are more like anti-social nut cases than they about any political ideal left or right. They are very single minded.
They "go there" with the 911 inside job and the holocaust is fake narratives I have no reason to listen to anything they have to say about any subject.
Extremism of left and right is equally evil IMHO.

As for the connection or relationship between homosexuality and pedophilia I do believe that while not all homosexuals are pedophiles the vast majority of pedophiles have at the very least latent homosexual tendencies. I believe that is statistically true - but good luck finding the stats on that these days. Data that is unflattering to homosexuality is verboten these days

"Be afraid of the police" is propaganda from white liberals.

2

Many blacks are taught to remember events in which they were targeted. Makes good sense. For a white person to say distrust of govt is a healthy thing, try being black in America's history. But, that's where it is and should stay. Many today know and are looking for reasons to riot and loot based on the history, refusing to respect LEO in defiance.

M1TMC Level 6 Sep 19, 2020

I think looting happened more as people are angry of what they feel the system owes them... taught intensely every February in schools.

Lots of good thinking points. These "bubbles" definitely can be seen all over social media especially. I've also seen a lot of attacks on any "wrong think" en masse. While it's not uncommon to see trolling as well as other ways of antagonizing people, it's very weird for me to see such organized efforts in it, as well as it being praised for having social justice value.

"When someone is in a state of delusion of persecution, either to themselves or for someone else, they are easily triggered and manipulated by each confirming stimulus. The longer that these stimuli go on unchecked, the harder it is for them to let go of a delusion as their emotional state creates a "personal reality" that feels more real than the base or external reality."

This is something I've thought about. Considering statistics, the actual police response to riots vs percieved response based on MSM. I don't see how the casualty numbers, 100 plus days and 600 plus riots in, aren't higher. If it were true, that the majority of Trump supporters and police are hunting down blacks, then the numbers should have reflected that. The thing that confuses me, is why haven't more of the BLM protesters taken notice?

I find it extremely difficult to generalize based on race. No two people share such absolutes of thinking, regardless of race. I have friends and family that are left, right, center, not involved in politics, etc. Communities that I've lived in have ranged from more mixed race, more dominant one race, etc. I simply don't understand the idea of known truths of a persons beliefs based on race. Yet, I do still hear them often. I'm not literally colorblind. I see race. I just don't see race as an automatic known of who someone is. Critical race theory would say otherwise. Arguing CRT based on race is equally challenging. The other side of the CRT coin, as far as police violence would be ones civic duty to obey the law.

Historical racism is a fact. If I'm incorrect in my assumptions that race relations haven't progressed significantly, then I want to know. So, based on YouTube, Twitter, MSM, social media, and other articles, I looked at opinions and statistics on varying individuals. I looked at celebrities, journalists, politicians, as well as average small account individuals. Considering the nature of online vs in person research, I did expect a bit of extremism. I just didn't expect so much, especially from MSM and other journalists.

Statistics get more complicated when it comes to perceptions. I would have expected to have seen more black individuals who share the belief that they are being hunted, considering MSM. I found a mix of varying opinions of ranging from those that believe they are being hunted, racism is still bad but they are not being targeted, and racism is now nearly non existent and they are not being singled out based on race. There were also a few extremist black supremacy groups, as well as patriotic groups. The majority of the rest, however, seemed more or less to be echoing the same rhetoric based on their chosen ideology. It was either CRT, or OTL.

[newsmax.com]

I expected to find less absolutes among whites, considering they are not black. I found an even greater number of white individuals who whole heartedly believe blacks are being hunted down. Whites that disagreed were scarce on social media, and nearly non existent on MSM. (At least not in any positive way). White YouTubers ranged from statistic heavy opinions proving against racism, to ideological heavy opinions proving we are all inherently racist. White supremacists were not seen in social media sites, but could be found here and there in less commonly used corners. Again, throughout online, there was this extremism and echoing of the same two things: CRT vs OTL.

[realclearpolitics.com]!

Considering not even the most educated white is black, it really was suprising that a bulk of CRT seems to be propagated by whites online. (This could be because of a left leaning bias on social media). In addition, again because they are not black, no white can relate to racism from a blacks perspective. Also, due to such a divide in both black and white perceptions, these beliefs appear not to have a relation to one race only. The conclusion I led to was that it was the ideology of critical race theory that is at the stem of this fearful belief that blacks are being hunted. This is my own perception, however, and considering it's more ideological, it's hard to prove or say with certainty.

I respect the freedom of a persons right to religion, ideology, political, and personal beliefs. I believe America has been richer for it's ability to be shaped with multiple ideals over these many decades. However, CRT is an extremely divisive means that in no way benefits race relations in any positive way. Any belief that requires full adherence to it's ideology is unamerican and should be banned at a government/ federal level. It is my belief that this propaganda has been paramount in the destruction of race perceptions and has created an unwarranted fear in some black communities.

Yeah, unlike a church that tend to have a moderating effect, woke groups tend to energize members to go on offensive (ok, yeah crusades). I've not seen such mobbing on the conservative side.

It could be that the Left only see the "peaceful" parts of edited video while the Right see the violent parts.

No one cares about real facts. They only have themselves to blame but that will never happen we won't let or make them take responsibility for their actions

Sometimes a question like "What evidence could I give you to reconsider your position?" can break through... although, if they say "nothing", then hope is lost 😟

@Admin facts and reasons do not work with this type of people. All this info has been known for years
it's just a waste of time and energy tell them about it .They will believe in what they want no matter what truth is shown or said to them
And yes hope is lost with them to change there ways

Rap video below is same crap libs pump out. 60's drug culture did not make us do it - It just created it.

Some say it all started in 1965...

@Admin
In which case the words of Malcolm X are particularly germane to current events:
"History proves that the white man is a devil."

Replying to the article from reading the name alone:
Because pop culture and that non-black communities don’t understand the community as they only know they’re own and make judgments.

Also there’s no call for change from a content community. You have to have a story to get a reaction to justify politics

I was mad at the press when I finally heard a story that apparently the mainstream took differently than I did, because thier story was about a girl being frightened by a police officer because she thought the officer was going to shoot them. End story. To which I say was in response to the media’s hyper inflammation of the police officer involved in George’s Death, that now little cute black babies are scared to death of the force that is there to protect them! I wanted to sue for psychological torture on behalf of the public! Let me know to how if anyone has legal advice!

This is all bc of female suffrage. MSM paints a nonsense narrative - the reality is dindus thugs are indulged with AA. - to guilt trip gullible femoids.

Men at least use their senses & reason. Fembots are NPC drones who repeat (((megaphone holders bs))).

Tribalism is being driven primarily by the emotional persuasiveness of fear and anger. There is one more piece to this, blame. Emotional persuasiveness of fear and anger then to short-term resolution by blaming a person or group. It is the primary format cycle of CNN.

I think he meant with a blackjack or beer bottle, not a fist.

i was talking to a black man not long ago and he told me that when he went home to a southern state, his family watched out for him in a black neighborhood. I said what do you mean and he said " Down there, you don't walk by yourself as you never know when someone will come up behind you and hit you in the back of the head". This was a large guy and this is true.

Well... the "Knockout game" is real. [en.wikipedia.org]

Do you think it's the art of war?
You have two enemies, tell the weaker the stronger will attack them, tell the stronger the weaker will attack them, as they battle, help both. After they are worn, step up and stop the battle, accepted as a hero, you can control both of your enemies.
Train police to be aggressive, reward for arrest and convictions. Reward media for publishing a race is criminal, motivate the other race to fear.
Most racism is fear of the unknown. Predjudice is ignorance, how can you hate what you do not know, because you are told to. Media publishes the extreme, not the majority of times no weapon involvement, scare tatic used to manipulate.

Disinformation is a key part of any war strategy. Have to figure out how to get people who can understand facts to speak up boldly against disinformation. Doing so will have the secondary effect of encouraging others. Otherwise, anger and fear will be harnessed to bad ends.

@Admin it takes time to get their trust, once they learn you are not attacking, they will start to listen and learn, then they want to learn more. The hard part is getting the ones that know not to insult the ones that don't know.

Blacks complain that whites react to them in a negative manner!!!!
I wonder why whites would react that way??? Are the whites just racist???
I know a stupid question, but that is the response of this society!!!
It is like coming across a rattlesnake in the woods, you will react negatively, if you have a brain!!!

Serg97 Level 8 Sep 20, 2020

I guess it really depends on the situation... walking at night in a dangerous neighborhood vs looking at resumes for a new hire.

@Admin Walking in a well lit mall, near a group of young black males??? Still a rattlesnake response!!!
And, again, who's fault is that?????
