Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.More like a weapon. Tesla discovered that beaming power was a risk to anything in its path. You don't take that risk unless you intend to.
But you need a whole lot of power, and that has to mean batteries. The Sun only shines on Earth with less than 2kW of power per square foot per day. Without battery storage, that's basically a cigarette lighter.
Batteries are very heavy. Tough to get enough of them into orbit, and they need lots of maintenance for very short life.
