Justin Trudeau using taxpayer funded election rigging in Canada by paying $650,000 given to social media iinfluencers to get out the youth vote. They overwhelmingly vote Liberal of course; Youth don't pay taxes and want free stuff.

I've heard that Elections Canada shut this down as being blatantly biased, but these people were already paid and were not asked to give it back. And since they are all flaming liberals, I'm sure they will try to earn their money... in fact they would have done that for free! And don't worry, Trudeau has many other election rigging schemes that are going forward, like bribing the Canada MSM with his $600 million bailout for "trusted media"... those who are favorable to the liberal message.

In an age when social media presence, rumourmill and brand image can all alter in a heartbeat given the right circumstances it makes sense for brands to employ someone to continually boost their products and services, creates more positive feelings so that when things go wrong they're better cushioned.

They are breathing advertisements. They are "popular" on social media platforms (usually Instagram) and endorse products publicly and usually get a cut of the profits that the product brings in.

Why are they popular? How did they achieve their popularity? From what I have observed, "influencers" achieve popularity for taking pictures that make their lives look lavish, ideal, posh, exciting, etc. In other words, they publish their entire life BUT cut out all the negative or boring aspects without disclosing that they have cut these parts out. The ones that I know and have seen have also had cosmetic work done (of course, they don't usually publish this information) or are just naturally beautiful.

I have no idea why people follow them, but I suppose it is not all that different than following celebrities like Kim Kardashian or Paris Hilton--the characters that are famous for being famous.

Reading "4D Warfare, A New Doctrine for a New Generation of Politics" I strongly recommend that you take a look. It is extremely enlightening. The author, Jack Posebeic is a journalist/commentator on One America News Network.

Thank you! I will look into it.

The simple definition is that it is someone that has a lot of traffic and response on their social media profile and posts .

it is someone out there - out on you tube or face book or twitter (usually all three plus some others) who have achieved a following in the tens of thousands and in some cases hundreds of thousands. It's the new age way of one person having found their proverbial 15 minutes of fame. If one of these social media celebrities says she loves this brand of lipstick or that brand of flavored condoms then her followers clammer all over themselves to go out and buy the products she endorses this week...next week it'll be something else.

I don't think it will be a 15 minute thing. I know some "influencers" personally and they have had hundreds of thousands of followers for years now. This is permanent.

15 minutes of fame is a metaphorical expression coined by the late Andy Warhol. It is not to be taken literally. @plebeian_lobster

@iThink I know... I am saying that once an "influencer" has a huge following, they will, in most cases, keep that following--it is not a temporary thing.

It's the "job" that millennial's put on their resume when they realize that have been screwing around for a long time and should have been working on a career.

I have noticed this trend on millennial CV's.

1.) Real entry level job coming out of college in or around their field of study
2.) Within the first year or two - job change to similar position
3.) Social Media Influencer for two years or year (Depending on when unemployment runs out)
4.) Unspecific Marketing Specialist (whatever that is) for several companies that sound like truck stop diners

I would say that they are an online celebrity who does freelance PR, e.g. on Twitter or Facebook.

Have seen that before too, thanks for asking the question 🙂

Social Media Influencer. noun. A Social Media Influencer is a user on social media who has established credibility in a specific industry. A social media influencer has access to a large audience and can persuade others by virtue of their authenticity and reach.

Put simply; A BS expert

Bingo generally it's someone people listen to only because a lot of other people listen to them.

Essentially a shepherd for idiots.

And his audience are BS receptacles

@CodeNameZebra That is what I was afraid of.
