It was interesting to here another viewpoint than jbp who I admire greatly (if not love)
It's priceless to gain even tiny new visions of reality
It could have continued another hour for me
Zizek has other programs of reality running in him
Favourite quote was about grace leading to happiness accidentally

Who came across better? Zizek was funny and engaging but weirded me out with the perpetual nose scratch short adjustment combo.

Peterson was Peterson. I’m admittedly biased toward JP.

I really liked Zizek's request to not make it a competition--just a conversation, so I think they both won, and I think we all won. That's just the best possible scenario, though I came away feeling they didn't quite get to the meat of the topic. I also though the topic constrained where they naturally wanted to go at several points.

The only thing I didn't like was the who are the neomarxist postmodernist line of inquiry. I felt it was a cheap point that Zizek already knew the answer to. But, I'm nitpicking.

I find it interesting that while Karl Marx and Marxism are usually demonized by many instantly (including JP), the Zizek's understanding of both is different. I'm under the impression that Zizek's knowledge of Karl Marx and Marxism is even more extensive than Peterson's.

Marx was a bum. If not for Engels he would have been on the street begging. Marxism is a crutch for weak minds

I wasn't talking about Marx. I was making an observation on Zizek and Peterson.

What does that include in modern times to be a Marxist?

Wow, very interesting. But, I see what JP was saying. In a lot of ways, they agreed. I'm sure JP prepared for disagreement. But, a really entertaining conversation and a rebuke to all of us that think 'debate' has to be contentious and insulting. The BEST debates are between friends with honest curiosity and a deep enjoyment of each other's mind.

Watching this with morning coffee and some epic dabs. This should be an excellent morning....

Just curious, who bought a "ticket" for this versus who watched one of the many pirated live streams?

I bought 4 tickets, brought my son and two friends.

That civil discourse was thrilling to watch because of how much the two debaters were enjoying themselves. I haven't read the books referenced from in the debate but I think they dumbed down enough that a layperson like myself can grasp the concepts/ideas they were discussing.

I don't really understand what Zizek meant when he said about a falling down retroactively creating the position fallen from. He made a reference to something right before that statement.

They're around. They don't call themselves Marxists any more. Today they call themselves "Progressives"

They wear red armbands, don't they? Is it Kosher to announce? Marxism is sort of like socialism, isn't it? Is Bernie Sanders a socialist or a Marxist or both?

They couldn't afford the ticket price

Sorry for the misleading title--just added some details: "Zizek asks Peterson to name one academic of the sort that he calls 'postmodern neomarxist' that is actually a Marxist."

@WilyRickWiles it was being facetious. Btw the video never played. I actually wanted to attend this live but the ticket prices were high
