I’m from the UK and have been in the US for a few years now. It’s interesting to read the dialog here on IDW. It feels closer to balanced and people seem to accept each other at least. The media here (US) doesn’t appear to have any legal or moral obligation to tell the truth and that’s becoming a growing problem. My concern is not for ‘the running’ of the country but it is for what an individual in a position of power words can stir within a country. Having family from South Africa (that lived through apartheid) I hear of the importance that a message of peace and humanity can do to help people accept one another even when it feels like there is no hope left. As the divide between the left and right grows further apart I purely hope for a better message of accepting difference to begin to be said from any one in politics.

There has always been and will always be differences of opinions. The big issues today are emotion over reason and fact. Civil discussions seems to be a difficult concept these days. It is sad that differences are used as a tool of aggression instead of being used as a tool of learning from one another. How boring this world would be if we all liked the same things. One color of car, one style of house, one type of shoe. Differences are wonderful, we need them!!

I am an American. My life is doing just dandy. Family has grown, income has grown and honestly everything is going wel. However, the yield curve is currently inverted so we will see where he next 6-18 months will take us.

I am, not much people out here in California always bitched if you don't pander to them.

Texas here. Proud of living in the one of the greatest countries in the World.

And we need be ashamed of neither our president or our politics. The real extremism here is the Left which has become so extreme, so tyrannical, and so PC that being a straight white male, a Christian, and someone who believes in securing our borders and enforcing our laws is somehow controversial.

It's gotten better. Happy to see so many more Americans thriving not just surviving, you cannot deny the stats. My financial portfolio is stronger than ever which provide a greater sense of security for my retirement in the coming years. I am also feeling safer because the law is being respected once again, more work to do, but it is coming along.

I joined the uniformed services in 2013, I am American. Mostly I've seen more political and social tension overall and it's hard to exactly say what caused it but it's very noticeable compared to earlier times.

Not at all practically. But intellectually I have become more certain that a) the Democrat Party is dead and doesn't know it yet and b) America will go bankrupt in ten to twenty years with most Americans losing their life savings through massive inflation paying back the debt the Democrats created through their "New Deal", "Great Society", re-distributive policies. If you want to know what this period will look like, study Argentina in 2000 - 2005.

I am originally from Germany. Came here in 1994. Since 2010 I am a proud US-citizen.
The US has been good to me. I came here with very little. Now I have my own home, and through hard work I can afford to retire at 59. The US is still one (if not THE) freest country in the world. I am grateful, unlike many others who seem to wish the worst for their own country. Some of my colleagues came from socialist countries and they cannot understand in the world why one would wish that kind of abusive system onto oneself - except if it is for power and control of others.
I actually believe that I have lived through some of the best times of human history.

Love your answer! Proud you are an American who loves this Republic as much as I do!

I am . Most people don't know what that means . My country is South Carolina .

My life has changed very little since 2016 . I have been a stranger in a strange land , for a very long time .

Your state is South Carolina you live in America? I am confused

@BellaMaria The original form of government in the United States of America was equal and independent Sovereign States , in confederation . In 1867 , the legitimate government was overthrown by act of war . The Sovereign States were abolished and replaced with subsidiary corporations . The carpetbagger government is a criminal organization .

I explain this in "Reconstruction :The Broad Way To Destruction"

The link is contained in a post in my group , Real History

I am from the USA, but I welcome my Canadian American friends, as well as my South and Central American friends on this site (America is after all a continent, not a nation - and you didn't specify the North or South American continent).

Since 2016 - I found this site, I have more gray hair, and my Give A Shit finally broke. I though about getting it fixed, but my model has been discontinued! 😀

Dual US/Canada... Americandian?

US Born and it is my first love. Lived in Canada for about 10 years? Now we are back in the US... I will probably die in Canada. 😉

How has life changed since 2016? It's still too early for me to tell because we moved back in 2016, but I will say that health care insurance SUCKS compared to where it was in 2007. That's not to say that Canadian Health Care was good because it sucks and that's not my comparison. I'm comparing US Health Insurance in 2007 to US Health Insurance in 2016+.

Well, i thought i was a good dude up to 2016 but that changed very quick after the election when i found out that my friends thought i was satan. Yup, i became racist, homophobe, islamophobe, transphobe and a bunch of other phobes. I guess since 2016 my friends list and friends that i had for 20 years started to get smaller due to my choice of the presidential candidate. That is positive in a way because it peels a layer from people and exposes them for who they truly are which in most cases, narcissism is to blame.

Same for me. My friends seemed to go POOOOFFF! But hey, I had enough of their shit..good radiance to bad rubish.

Geez, that's rough. It's been a strange time in our history. I'm not sure we're better off, and I guess I'd like to think after the crazy wears off people would come back around to at least say they're sorry. BUT, probably wishful thinking...

Yup, changed for the better but also been very stressed. We had number 2 in 2016. Thought we were busy before then, hahaha!

Yes, not by much, looking for work, but due to disabilities, cannot do the work I used to do, so I do not blame the economy or any president, but there are more jobs in my CAD field since we got rid of the marxist muslim from Kenya.
