Correct when stating no form of governance is perfect. But capitalism is still THE only form that enriches all those who are willing to work hard in order to better themselves. Or risk capital which in turn employs people and sustain growth of an economy. You never see people fleeing capitalist nations to socialist, or worse, communism nations. But some people risk it all to gain entrance into first world capitalist countries.
Well said, right you are.
Not so. The standard of living in what most on this site call "Socialist" countries far exceeds the standard of living in the U.S. The U.S. has far too much income inequality to have a high standard of living rating and it's getting worse. More and more jobs in the U.S. do not pay a living wage, while a corporate CEO makes 380 times what his/her average employee makes. It's only 8 times in Japan, for example. There is more migration to Canada from the U.S. than the other way round. Not all immigration policies are equal. It is exceedingly difficult of migrate to most European countries. Most immigrants to the U.S. come from countries with weak governments and dangerous environments. Traditionally, the U.S. has had a liberal immigration policy. Comparatively, it still does. Immigration reform is sorely needed, but alas ....
@Hare I wouldn't say immigrants come from all over the world. Mexico is responsible for about 25% of U.S. immigrants. No other country reaches much passed 5%. And less than 1% come from countries normally considered socialist European countries. The U.S. has relatively lenient immigration, some say lax immigration laws, compared to other countries. We always have had. It is kind of our tradition. One way we get immigrants is because our higher education system is the envy of the world. Lots of foreigners come for the education. And many of those students stay here. It's benefited us.
