... can they?!

I mean registering your political views with the state and then having the state punish you if your political views aren't to their liking?

Seriously: if this is ok by you, then you are not ok with democracy.

Well... legislation of that nature, regardless of its noble intentions, is certainly ripe for abuse. We don't need to be giving the state(s) that kind of power.

I definitely see the "good intention" here (being that they want to ensure political diversity among the student population and ensure there is no political indoctrination going on); but i agree that this can definitely be abused by the school or future leaders. Surveys, no matter what they say, are rarely ever truly annonymous.
