What message should we put on our website's cover page?

Our current non-member cover page is very sparse and we found that half of the members who join have NOT heard about the IDW and what it stands for. Would like to get your thoughts on 1-2 sentences that we should put there that describes what the IDW is fighting for and why it's important for visitors to join the movement here.

I've some ideas but want to hear from you all first. Thanks so much! Oh, and while you're here, happy to get some thoughts on who we should contact to financially support. We'd like to advertise more directly to those who are involved in the movement... especially the smaller voices who are in the most need for help.

Supporting the 2 freedoms that are the foundation of a free society:

Freedom of speech and thought

@michaelBurns1 I don't agree. We are not talking about absolute freedom because all gatherings of living beings need rules and that is why we have governments. The thing is how intrusive do those rules have to be?

I totalitarian governments the rules are completely intrusive and serve the government. In Democracies the rules protect the people from the government and from mob rule by each other.

@michaelBurns1 do you know of any organism that lives in a community of the same species and doesn't have a hierarchy?
We need rules in order to have freedom. They are not antithetical at all. Rules establish boundaries so that one thing can be distinguished from another.
I don't know of such a thing existing.

I'm just spitballing ideas here, but what about "IDW.Community - better than finding porn of your mom on the internet!"

Seriously though - what about a quote from someone on free speech and/or dissent?

To suppress free speech is a double wrong. It violates the rights of the hearer as well as those of the speaker. Frederick Douglass

In a democracy dissent is an act of faith.
Like medicine, the test of its value is not in its taste,
but in its effects.

Challenge Your Own Ideas

3

‘To listen’ is to gain the experience of others, ‘to question’ is to experiment with ideas, ‘to debate’ is to think.

Maybe attach a link to the actual IDW site so as to provide an explanation for those who are not familiar? Not this site, I mean the regular IDW site, I recently did a post sharing the link.

For those who support free speech/expression, join this site and participate in discussions on how we can promote civil debates on controversial topics. Maybe something like that could be added to the description?

Regarding the financial support, think I'll message you over that part.

I think what you have is great. I have 2 suggestions.

  1. I see you show faces but I would like to see their names as well. Small but still there.
  2. I think the faces should automatically change every few seconds.

Thinking to replace the text "Meet other fans of the Intellectual Dark Web
and join the conversation" with something like "Meet other fans of the Intellectual Dark Web and join the fight for free speech, civil debates, and XYZ"... what would XYZ be?

Western civilization? enlightenment values? full strength whisky?

..and join those who aspire for prudence, seek dialogue and search for the truth.

Something more inspiring and less “activisty”.

@Admin “...join us to welcome liberty, free from chains of censorship, back into our social platforms.”

And maybe some other big picture words that invoke a sense of prosperity.

@Admin How about group discussions to promote critical thinking outside of the box?

Leave it xyz. Encouraging cognitive health for generations x,y,z.

'..Uncensored Free Speech and Civil debates.'
I like the word 'uncensored' because censoring is exactly what Twitter is doing. And U-tube Pay Pal etc. This rampant censorship is why an ISW is so appealing.

Stand up straight, with your shoulders back!

Where free thinking is encouraged, Free speech treasured, and hearts and minds combine to build a better society based on understanding.

We value our opinions, but not so deeply, that discussion can not make us explore new perspectives, and see our way to a better world. Based on mutual respect and understanding of all the diverse views that make the world a little richer for existing

Hows that ??

@michaelBurns1 I don't understand the question. Do you care to clarify?

@michaelBurns1 Simply because I chose to use Marcus Aurelius as a username doesn't mean I am unable to truthfully represent my ideas, which I do. If there are better ideas out there, and I'm certain that there are, then I would have to reconsider my own thinking. This is congruent with Nietzsche's metaphor, which can be interpreted as allowing your lesser ideas to die in order for new ideas to prosper which is the prevailing ethos of having to learn and debate, and is also the goal of having an IDW community.

And if I am correct to assume that you think that I became level 6 through unfair means, I would respond that firstly I run the Cult of Beauty group as well as the Gad Saad Group, and have had a few popular polls, and do comment regularly. Secondly I haven't been intentionally influencing anybody, I put my thoughts out there, I'm sure anyone who wants to can dismantle my ideas can, and if they have better ideas, they should. As for any influence I might have, I doubt I actually have any, and don't care to do anything with it if I had any, I'm just here to share my opinions, debate, share ideas, and get a better understanding of those who might think differently from myself. If you want to buy levels, that's your business, Mr. Burns, but what's the point, it isn't that difficult to level up

@michaelBurns1 Evidently I didn't read your response as a joke. Was it intended as one?

Brandan Straka comes to mind, as one who has good purpose, And is actually a #walkaway convert, activist with plans to apread the word and expose the lies.

Amend that, Walkaway movement and hashtag founder.

Intellectual Dark Web IDW.Community
Excellent Name for a Community BTW.
This visual I see above me is GOOD. Copy concise and GOOD.
IDW = Posts. Groups. Opinions.
An NEW Alternative To Twitter and Fbook
(I don't know exactly how to get that across but seems IDW is that. An Alternative.)

Aside: Be good to get a Crowder group.

I just saw a Stephen Crowder Group... I think it might be on the second page of the list of groups.
