I watched this interview this morning - very interesting.

Former Trump aide George Papadopoulos says Russia conspiracy proponents “picked the wrong person” when they attempted to make him a scapegoat in the ongoing criminal investigation into the 2016 election.

“It’s a major scandal,” he said.

Mr Papadopoulos was implicated in the investigation into Russian interference in the US election and pleaded guilty to charges but was issued a full pardon by the president before he left office.

Before the 2016 election, the former Trump aide famously attended a meeting with Australia's High Commissioner to the UK Alexander Downer where he allegedly bragged Mr Trump would win because Russia might release information damaging to Hillary Clinton.

In an exclusive interview with Sky News Mr Papadopoulos claimed he had “never met a Russian official” both before or after allegations were made against him.

“You don’t make a career in DC in neo-conservative politics in DC supporting Russian agendas or meeting with Russian officials for that matter," he said.

“the whole situation one never made any sense.

Mr Papadopoulos said there was a major ongoing criminal investigation looking into "exactly what was going on here and who might have been falsifying information" in order to target the Republican's election campaign.

“My side of the story essentially is that the 2016 campaign was targeted by the Obama Administration at the behest of governments that had a bone of contention with an America first, nationalistic candidate like President Trump.”[skynews.com.au]
