I agree and would add that ‘ God’ should also be removed, as it undermines separation of church and state.

When I read about the person who penned the original pledge I chose not to ever recite this again in my life. The guy was a hard core socialist, and the pledge was meant as an act of obediance to the state. The fact someone tossed in the words United States, and under God makes it no less a tool of intellectual oppression. I once read a book by Stephen Biko, he wrote that the greatest weapon of an oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. So very true, and as you pointed out, when we are inundated from a very early age that we should abdicate all personal reason and accountability to the state we become the greatest tool for our oppressors in being in that mind set.

I have tried reasoning with fellow Christians how demonic the pledge is, after all we are promising our all to the state. Sure it says under god, but it does not get specific about what god. THere are many false gods, and the pledge of allegiance is directing us along that line. I sure wish more folks would recognize the pledge for what it truly is.

Another aspect most folks do not realize is that until Hitler rose to power all the kids would have their right hand raised in what has become known as the Nazi salute, rather than having their hand placed over their heart.
