Last year, a mandarin duck was the celebrity.

I feed ducks and geese at the lake in Central Park at 101st street.
They are ordinary mallards and Canadian geese.
Even though they are not endangered species, I consider them to be important.

In the spring the lake explodes with ducklings.

I built the lake up to 100 ducks and 200 geese. I would rather have this glorious crowd than one mandarin duck. I love the sound of 200 honking geese.

A Blue Heron once arrived at the lake and photographers gathered.
They didn't gather for mallards and geese. I considered the Heron a nuisance because they eat ducks,
so I chased it off.
