"A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies."
This is George Washington stated in his first inaugural address. I suggest the reading of the Militia Act of 1792 and 1798.
The Federalist Papers are another reference point.
To those who think our Founders could not have foreseen repeating arms; should reference the Puckle Gun. One of the first rapid fire and repeating weapons of that day.
What about when citizens mistrust the government with guns? Republicans have had control of the federal government and most state governments for the past 10 years. They could have passed most of the legislation they wanted. Why didn't they? When you have the power and authority why back off?
Quote attributed to George Washington is fake bullshit.
Fake quote George Washington said no such thing ever! But definitely the kind of bullshit this site was made for!
SO you support Che; hence his picture. Was it not Che who called for the death of America and free speech. If you hold that belief and support his methods and ideals why have you not moved? If America is such a horrible place have you tried living in Cuba?
The quote is accurate, rasy enough to Google it.
@Archangelwoghd its fake
Whatever you say, Boss.
@N0DD I read plenty of history. I find most people who identify with Che seem to be of the Marxist state of mind. If you prefer Cuba maybe go back there. You probably will not. People of your ilk are like a cancer who want to poison the well of freedom. Much like Che did. Che died in a jungle. Che attempted to force people to believe how he did. They wanted to be just left alone. Che was a miserable rich kid.
For the most part, Washington was diametrically opposed to political parties, as he believed the instant political parties became more important than the individual merits of the candidates who were running is the instant the nation would become divided. If only he knew just how right he was about that...
Are you really trying to validate or give credibility to a blatantly fake quote and misattribution....how Trumpian!
@N0DD What I mentioned above had nothing to do with the quote in the meme, and Washington ran Independent, that much is factual.
@SpikeTalon quote is still fake bullshit
@N0DD Then it's fake, doesn't matter to me either way.
Absolutely correct. He was one of the greatest men who ever lived. By todays terms He would be called a fascist.
The quote isn't fake anyway. And even if it was, ots an accurate reflection of his positions.
@Archangelwoghd "and even if it was" (!) true fascists will distort reality by any means necessary.....Trump refuses to concede the election he lost, not because of fraud or a "fake" result, but to concede means also losing control of the narrative that keeps the attention on him, doesnt matter how ignorant or dangerous his behaviour as long as he's getting attention for brand Trump. Fascism was first defined for Western civilization in Imperial Rome and the behaviour of all dictators since is modelled on that. Fascism is nothing to do with left or right it is simply about authoritarian control and dictatorship.
