Interesting, no? There is so much propaganda about black Americans being left/progressive.

While virtually every other confluence of race and ideology is par for the course—white people, Asians and Hispanics can be liberal or conservative—the notion of a black conservative still strikes many people as dubious.

Black Americans are no less likely to be conservative than any other group.

If you really want to learn a lot more about the story of the black conservative, Larry Elder came out with a documentary called Uncle Tom . I've seen a lot of black people being called race traitors for backing the police, for being against BLM, and for voting/supporting Trump.

The leftist narrative is always "listen to [insert minority/group of "lesser" power], but not [specific member] of that [minority/group of "lesser" power], because he/she is a traitor!"

Blacks are suppose to do and believe as they are told.
They are not supposed to be capable of thinking for themselves.

It is the foundation of identity politics:
Whites are all racists.
Blacks are all too dumb to think for themselves.
Jews are all greedy and kill innocent Palestinians.
Muslims are all terrorists.
Asians are all etc etc...

And if we react to such narratives and get outraged, we are just as guilty of playing identity politics. It's hard not to react sometimes, though; we all sleepwalk into it now and then - ugh!

@Naomi I think outrage is fine as long as the outrage doesn’t result in an unreasoned emotional response. Not that emotion is bad, but it is typically not helpful to act only based on how I feel about something. The how I feel should inform why I feel that way, and from that why we can and should act intentionally to advocate against what we think violates us and for what we think enriches us.

So, this is a tricky one. I am African American and I am actually very conservative but I do not consider myself well aligned with the conservative GOP as a whole. Most of their policy fits with my values but, the narrative used to justify the policy does not take in to account some of the nuances that affect my community. As a result, I am ultimately a political agnostic. Lol

Political agnosticism is a very good position to be in.

Could you explain "...my community"?

@Future4seen Those that are like me that I also associate with.

Great article yet Socialist/Marxism has become so prevalent in any discussion about racial identity in this country that it has created a situation that a single "...inclusive multi-ethnic national identity" seems to be an insurmountable challenge anytime soon, if at all. Socialists and Marxists know that division is their strongest weapon and lately they seem to winning that battle. I don't believe that there will ever be a chance of a single multi-ethnic identity until the war against Socialist and Marxism is won.

I think you may be right.
