The Chain of Ascension
The old English rock group called The Police had a hit song on their 1981 album called Ghost in the Machine, and this song was named Spirits in the Material World. Gordon Sumner was the handsome and charismatic front-man for The Police, but he is commonly known as Sting, and it was Sing that is credited for writing this masterpiece of a song.

Where does the answer lie?

As Sting wrote decades ago, we are indeed beings of the celestial realms who are temporarily trapped in the material world, and ancient Hindu scriptures are in complete agreement with Mr. Sumner's assessment of the human condition. The sacred Hindu scriptures are also known as The Vedas, and these writings were first introduced to India by the Aryans many millennia ago.

Like The Police, the ancient Aryans believed that all people are actually spirits who have descended from the higher planes and now take-on human forms, so according to this view of the world, the human body is nothing more than a temporary container of consciousness, but certainly not the originator of mind and awareness. Conversely, the physical brain enables consciousness from higher realms to interface with the material world by working as a type of go-between, or the brain could be said to work kind of like a radio antenna that picks-up broadcast signals. Thus, a damaged brain prevents higher consciousness from making any full and proper connection with a physical body, just like a bad antenna prevents anyone from clearly hearing a radio a signal.

Indeed, the human brain functions just like a radio receiver, except this squishy crenulated organ picks up consciousness rather than radio signals. A radio can be tuned into a good or a bad station, so all of us are capable of tuning our brains to either good or bad spiritual signals.

Given the human brain's capacity to pick-up all sorts of signals from the spirit world, almost anything is possible. Almost anything is possible when the brain can receive the right spiritual signals because almost anything can and does happen, so the ability to access an infinite range of possibilities all depends on the receptive power of an individual person's brain.

Concerning the receptive power of my own brain, I have memories that span a number of different worldly incarnations, and these memories of human lifetimes are also Interspersed with recollections of living in the Spirit World.
Gods and Goddesses are always being created, so each spirit follows its own unique path to becoming a celestial being.

I am also a firm believer in what is called the "Chain of Ascension". The Chain of Ascension is the idea that higher spirits are continually rising to higher states of being and continuously pulling other beings up with them. Just as angelic beings like Guidelings, Devas, and Bodhisattvas are continually pulling spiritually advanced humans to higher levels of consciousness, humans who have high levels of celestial advancement are also continually lifting less aware beings to higher levels of spiritual development. For example, when humans interact with animals like their pets they are actually raising the level of spiritual development for these less advanced souls. Examples of humans with higher levels of spiritual advancement lifting the less aware include pastors preaching to their congregations and Buddhist monks leading meditations.

Guidelings are human spirits that have reached a point where they are excused from the need to reincarnate as human beings with flesh and blood. Guidelings typically occupy their time assisting human souls who are still attached to material bodies in their journeys of death, or they find their focus by providing guidance to less advanced humans during times of extreme difficulty. Guidelings also help confused and frightened humans during stressful out-of-body experiences. Guidelings are also known to occasionally intervene and thwart disasters; however, Guidelings are very sensitive to matters of karma, so they are not in the business of granting wishes.

Interestingly, it is not unusual for people who are days away from dying to catch glimpses of men and women standing by their bedsides who then quickly fade-out and disappear from sight. Guidelings are not angels, nor Bodhisattvas, but they are just people who have reached a very advanced level of spiritual development that choose to guide less aware humans through the spirit world, kind of like a kindly adult would guide a lost child to his parents when that child is distressed and lost in a crowded airport. Guidelings could also be compared to the paid guides who escort Western tourists who do not know the local languages, laws, customs, social taboos, risks, dangers, or geography of the crowded and chaotic souks, markets, and city streets of the Islamic world.
Bodhisattvas are commonly understood to be human spirits who have reached a point where they no longer need to be reincarnated as a human, yet these beings continue to reincarnate in the form of humans so that they can act as teachers and guides to those who could learn from their teachings.

Devas are simply spiritual being who dwell on higher celestial planes and have developed to a point where they no longer incarnate in the material realm unless there is a very good reason.

There is also no limit to the ways that beings with higher levels of consciousness are lifting those with less awareness. If one seeks to understand how the spiritually aware lift the consciousness of others who have less spiritual knowledge, simply look at a White Oak tree and observe how these living beings extend their limbs and branches out in a similar fashion to the ways that spiritual awareness spreads out into the world.
Surprisingly, common human perceptions of time are actually correct, indeed, time really does exist; however, the passing of time is a relative thing rather than a fixed absolute. For example, time behaves differently based on a person's point of observation as this reference point relates to the past, the present, and the future. Thus, the direction, the flow, even the very existence of time depends on how it is observed. Gravity also affects the rate at which time flows, and this is the reason that time pieces placed on aircraft can differentiate between ground speed and air speed.

So, there are 60 seconds in a minute, and 60 minutes in an hour; however, the length a second varies because it is affected by gravity.

There are literally millions of Earthlike planets in our galaxy alone, and there are billions of know galaxies, so I am sure that spirits taking material incarnations are possible on a huge number of different planets, provided that sufficient periods of time are allowed. For example, many traditional peoples from a number of different races report having close connections with various stars, or they trace their origins to planets that orbit these distant stars. One example of an earthbound people who claimed origins from the stars can be found by observing that the Aryans who inhabited their original Circumpolar homeland had a culture that was centered on the Pole Star, which is also known as Polaris. Another example of a traditional people of Earth who claimed extraterrestrial origins is the pre-Christian Irish who had a close affinity with the constellation called the Corona Borealis, which is also called The Northern Crown.
