I disagree with the premise of your remark. The Bible implicitly and explicitly recognizes slavery as a fact of life here on earth. This is not the same thing as "condoning" slavery.
BTW, how can you move forward using the text of books that condone and call for confiscation/stealing wealth and assets of individuals - A philosophy that exhorts things like theft and slavery as virtuous? The Communist Manifesto and Das Kapital come to mind...and there are a lot more.

Where did I say I was a socialist?

@SocialDarwin anyone who thinks Gov't should regulate / issue licenses for people who wish to be parents is at their core a socialist. jus say 'n

Your implicit attack on The Bible is pretty much a socialist/atheistic thing to do too.

you seem to think more gov't intrusion into everyones lives is the solution to all things that worry you...that's a socialist.

@SocialDarwin and by the way your defensive posturing to my comment is off topic. Were you not talking about the Bible and condoned slavery? I think you were.

@iThink
FYI.. I am Nationalist and authoritarian. Authoritarian and anti-biblical is not socialist.

@SocialDarwin Please give a simple explanation for authoritarian...because that is exactly what characterizes socialism.

@iThink
I relate to National Socialism a lot! Even geniuses make mistakes. But, in that time period I can see how Germans liked an economy boom while others were in a depression

I guess u could call me a Nazi. But Hitler despised communists

@SocialDarwin Communism is the natural end to Socialism. Communism is really an ethereal - imaginary utopian existence. Like self-actualization in Maslows hierarchy of needs it is something to aspire too but never actually met - it is unattainable.

Socialism is the only path too utopian Communism. The two cannot be separated. On that train Socialism is the engine and Communism is the destination - which will never be realized.

Socialism is absolutely authoritarian. Absolute power is absolutely corruptible and will always lead to death on a massive scale.

Surely you cannot ignore the purges of the Russian and French Revolutions?! What immediately followed those horrendous periods where the death tolls were immeasurable (not exaggerating here) was decades long periods of poverty - privation of the populations. And no one dared to utter so much as a complaint for fear their neighbor report them and they find themselves in a gulag - or shot dead.
Socialism IS authoritarianism and it is without doubt the evilest of all political systems ever tried - bar none.

I think it is difficult for most folks to understand that there really is no such thing as perfection.
Free Market Capitalism is far from perfect - no argument on that - BUT it is the "least worst of all" and we have about 200 years of prosperity and relative freedom to show for it.

More important than all the various iterations and kinds of governance the most important - the most meaningful thing of all is the Liberty - the autonomy of the "free man".
It is a very difficult balancing act trying to preserve individual liberty while tending to the needs of society as a whole. Like it or not we as individuals are also part of the collective - if "collective" is an apt synonym for "Society".
Whether or not some folks (too many folks IMHO) like it we all have a Civil duty to fulfill. That is to say we can be autonomous - free to do as we will with our own lives - but only insofar as the things we do do NOT do real (not imagined) harm to anyone else.

Words like "authoritarian" and "socialist" are a LOT more than mere words. They have real meaning and that meaning is not more well defined than the decades long bloody history of those ideas.
As Jordan Peterson says - we tried socialism/authoritarianism throughout most of the 20th century and we have about 100 million dead to show for it. Side note - I believe 100 million is a very low estimate. It is more likely 300 million

When someone says something like: "I'm a socialist" - or "I'm a Satanist" or "I'm a communist" or "I'm a Witch"...it is usually someone who has done very little if any reading and has no working understanding of those things - it is usually a very young person who is looking for some way to define their own uniqueness - none of them have any idea who they themselves are - much less are they able to see any depth of meaning to the world around them or to life itself

  • Usually.

@SocialDarwin I relate to National Socialism a lot! Even geniuses make mistakes

Are you a genius?

@iThink
I was referring to Hitler as genius who made one big mistake

@iThink
Non- crony capitalism is not too bad. But we have degrees of socialism even in America

@SocialDarwin Hitler as absolutely NOT a genius. His generals were not free to tell him the stupidity of his own tactical and strategic schemes.
I think Hitler was a LOT like Obama. A gifted orator - this talent gives the appearance of - the illusion of wisdom and high intellect..alas this is false.
Hitler was merely average - at best...same 2/Obama same with Justin Trudeau...Trump is certainly NOT a genius either. Neither was W nor his father GHW. Probably (just a guess) the POTUS with the hightest IQ over the last 40 years was B Clinton - I despise the man but he was very bright.
