Statues represent historical figures and events, but my question is, do we learn our history from statues or from books and other educational avenues? Those who tear down statues aren't erasing history. They're committing acts of vandalism. They love the drama and get swept away by emotion, but to what end? It doesn't change history. Statues are erected because they represent something. If it represents something a particular group doesnt like, and thus deserves to be torn down, then all statues should be fair game. Should we excuse this whole mess as angry people doing what angry people do? I thought we were more civilized than that. If people want to remove a statue, go through the petition process. You'll gain a lot more respect that way.

As Kayleigh points out, where does this stop. This is our history, good and bad. Be proud of the good, learn from the bad.
